Blogging in Tanzania

March 10, 2009 | 1 Comment

Blogging at www.bbcafricaslowdown.com here in Dar es Salaam at the IMF Africa conference and I’ve just had a conversation with a well-known Africa campaigner . . . no names of course:

“How about 2 minutes for bbc world service . . I’m doing a blog”

(strong Irish accent) “Blogs are shite”

“They’re the future”

“No they’re not . . they’re shite”

Granted, saying blogs are the future when I’ve already written about their demise was a bit pompous but I was trying to appeal to the traditional VIP’s fear of missing something new. Sadly, this was the wrong target, might have something to do with the fact that this person’s daughters have appeared in none-too-flattering positions on just about every sleazy celeb blog there is.

Can you guess who it was?
