It’s been a mad few days in the World Service Newsroom. As you can imagine when a major disaster hits it’s all hands to the pump. Unless you’re Anderson Cooper of course, in which case it’s to the Bat-chopper Robin!

This morning though I had my car lifted by Tower Hamlets authorities for allegedly illegal parking. On the 309 bus on the way to the remotest depths of Poplar to pay the £200 fine I was reading the Daily Mirror’s reports on the situation in Haiti. Somehow a £200 fine for a car doesn’t seem important does it?
